As you guys saw in my Monday post, I’m going on a “No Spend Challenge” for the month of April. That means I’m not buying a single clothing item all month for myself. (This also includes shoes, accessories, makeup, etc.) Because of the challenge, I am remixing what is already in my closet. I had a few meetings, so I settled on this outfit. This skirt and top are two of my top 10 favorite items in my closet.

I know that mixing prints can be a bit intimidating, so here are my rules:

1. Pick prints with complimentary colors. The blue in the skirt worked with the navy in the blouse.

2. Always do different proportions of prints. One small and one large.

3. Pick one colorful item to be balanced with a more “tame” option. The print on my blouse was tiny and it was a basic white blouse. The skirt was the focal point of the outfit.

3. Keep accessories, hair and makeup toned down. If you’re going crazy with the clothes, let the rest take a backseat. Too much = hot mess.

What do you guys think? Do you like mixing prints, or do you find it daunting?
