Spring always puts me in the best mood. I think of bright flowers, flowing dresses and new (read: fun) makeup. A staple in my life every Spring and Summer is the tinted lip balm. I need something that gives a bit of color and a hint of shine, but I don’t want a crazy color or super glossy lips. I just want a bit of color and sheen on my lips. These are my go-to lip colors when I’m looking for a tinted balm:lipsAs you can see, I have a wide range of brands, but these are my TOP favorites. I always like to do an arm swatch to show the actual color payoff. The benefit of having such fair skin is that you really see what the colors look like. swatch

I have them swatched in the same order as they are displayed above and I’ll list the colors from left to right.

Clinique Chubby Stick in 15 pudgy peony
L’oread Colour Riche Balm in 418 Caring Coral
Fresh Sugar Coral tinted lip treatment
Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil Balm in Nude Passion
L’oread Colour Riche Balm in 219 Plush Plum
Clinique Chubby Stick in 13 mighty mimosa
Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil Balm in Pink Passion
Fresh Sugar Rose tinted lip treatment
L’oread Colour Riche Balm in 218 Rose Elixer

So here’s the brand low down:

The Fresh lip balms are the most hydrating thing I’ve ever put on my lips. The end. However, at $22 a pop, that’s a bit much for a daily colored balm. The Bare Minerals Pop of Passions are at the same price point (and they just came out a month ago), BUT they are basically the exact same (in my experience) as the MUCH less expensive L’oread Colour Riche balms. The chubby sticks from Clinique tend to be my year long go-to. In the spring, chances are Mighty Mimosa is on my lips. I don’t know why, but they’re a bit more “solid” than the others and I just like the packaging and color payoff better than all the rest.

The best dupe for the Fresh Sugar Rose is the L’oread Colour Riche Balm in Rose Elixir. As you can see above, they’re nearly identical. If you’re not into dropping $22 on a lip balm (but seriously, they’re amazing) go for the dupe. I mean, $6 is not bad.

All in all, I love my collection of colors and honestly, I don’t really need more. Obviously there are MANY colors in each of the product lines I listed above, these just happen to be the ones that go the best with my skin tone.

I encourage you to try some! Is there a product I didn’t mention above that you can’t live without when it comes to a colored balm? Let me know in the comments!
