Happy May Day!!! This is one of my favorite obscure holidays. If you don’t know exactly what May Day is, you can read it here, but now it basically means we put cute little baskets on other people’s porches usually with flowers and candy inside. You knock on the door and run so they don’t see who did it. I LOVED doing this as a child and, had I not been a slacker this year- Alexander and I would have done it! Whoops. Ok, on to the outfit.
Every once and a while I find the perfect balance of style and comfort. Although dresses and skirts tend to be more comfortable, Kansas wind makes them less practical. Welcome to the solution- culottes. Basically, a super wide leg cropped trouser. We shot half of these pictures and I said something about wanting shots of the pants and my photographer Jacque said “wait, are those PANTS?!?!?!” Haha! YES! And comfy pants at that!Although these culottes aren’t cheap, I rented them from Rent the Runway using my Style Pass. It’s a monthly rental that gives you anything for $65. It’s cheaper than Unlimited (which I didn’t use) and guarantees me the lower rate for all of my rentals. I also get any additional rental for the same price. I love it because it gives me the chance to try designers I may not have heard of before without the risk of buyers remorse. (I found a much cheaper alternative here.)
These pants are a thick and stretchy material, so they’re not see-through (always a problem with white pants). Also, they’re insanely comfortable and chic. It’s a win-win all around. Since the pants were super cute I really felt like I needed to keep the rest of the look simple and chic. This blouse is incredibly light and airy and the scoop neck paired so well with this silk neck scarf. Throw on my standby red sandals (you’ve seen them here and here before) and kept the rest of the accessories neutral.

They’re crazy comfortable, you totally should Rebecca!!!
Love this look! I’ve been trying to figure out how to pull of cullottes in a conservative work environment. Maybe no one would notice they were short pants.
HAHAHAHA, well everyone thought I was wearing a skirt- so, do it!!!! 😉
This is such an elegant look & love how these culottes look like a skirt!
