Kansas City Fashion Week Welcomes International Designer Rachel Roy to S/S’19 Line-Up

Since spring of 2012 Kansas City Fashion Week has been the premiere industry platform for local and national designers to showcase their runway collections.

This season Kansas City Fashion Week, produced by A to Z Theatrical, will return to historic Union Station from September 26th-29th where 31 talented designers fill the roster, including globally recognized entrepreneur, philanthropist, and designer, Rachel Roy.

Rachel Roy is the founder & creative director of her eponymous brand and a tireless activist for using your voice to encourage change and to design the life you wish to live. Created in 2004, Rachel has built her ready-to-wear and accessories business into a globally recognized brand with product categories including contemporary, curvy, outerwear, jewelry, swim, home, and optical.

Rachel is a member of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America.) She is the founder of Kindness Is Always Fashionable, an entrepreneurial philanthropic platform which helps women artisans around the world create sustainable income for their families and communities. In 2018, Rachel was named a UN Women Champion for Innovation, and works with the UN advocating gender equality.

Rachel nurtures young design talent globally through her work with the “Who’s Next/Vogue Mexico” Woolmark Prize and CFDA incubator programs. She is an advisor to the World of Children, a national non-profit organization that serves underprivileged children.

Rachel is a sought after speaker on entrepreneurship and philanthropy. She has been recognized by the Accessories Council with an ACE AWARD for best brand launch as well as Mattel’s 10 Women to Watch and numerous “best dressed” honors, including Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List. Rachel has been a contributing columnist to Huffington Post and InStyle magazine. Her work has been featured on CNN, The Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and numerous other publications. In 2015 Rachel wrote Design Your Life and in January 2019 will release the book, “96 Words For Love,” which was co-written with her daughter, Ava Dash.

The multi-day fashion showcase features designers, models, style teams, photographers and other industry leaders at each event with the goal to gain national exposure for their brand.
