This past weekend we had the chance to spend time as a family at the Country Club Plaza and it was LOVELY!
Years ago, Ian and I were able to come to the Plaza for Thanksgiving and were able to witness the lighting of the Plaza lights. It was such a great time as a family and being able to bring Alexander to experience this special time of year at once of my favorite places.
We arrived on Friday night and headed over to Brio Tuscan Grille for dinner. The food was delicious, they were so wonderful with Alexander, and the staff kindly took a picture of the three of us on the way out!
The Residence Inn generously providd accommodations for our weekend, and it was perfect for our family. We had a kitchen, a separate bedroom from Alexander’s bed, and plenty of room. The best way to travel for a family, no doubt.
The next morning we at breakfast at the hotel (it’s free!) and then started our day of exploring. First, we stopped by Vineyard Vines to pick up some clothes for Alexander and me. (I need this wallpaper STAT. So cute.)
After a bit of shopping, we went to meet friends for lunch at Chuy’s Mexican. It was DELICIOUS!!! I had the Elvis fried chicken and Ian tried the “big as your head burrito.” Everything was excellent and it was such a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy lunch in such a fun and kid-friendly environment!
What could any kid possibly need after a delicious and filling meal? SUGAR. Haha, so we all went down to IT’SUGAR and had a great time picking out some treats for all the kids. (And I got some unique and fun finds for Alexander’s stocking this year as well as some White Elephant gifts for some Christmas parties!)
After all of that excitement (and sugar), Alexander and I headed back to the hotel to take a nap and rest up for the evening! No joke, that two-hour nap FLEW by.
Before dinner, we did a little shopping at The North Face. I ADORE their kid’s coats and Alexander has worn them every year as his fall and winter coats and jackets because I trust the quality of the items. Such a great store and I love being able to try on all of the coats to see what will actually fit this year and possibly next.
We also discovered Made in Kansas City Marketplace and absolutely loved it! We bought a LOT and I think the concept of the store is genius. If you haven’t been, you should TOTALLY check them out!
Dinner was next, and holy moly, I was NOT prepared for the experience that Jack Stack presented. Whoa. Delicious.
We walked around a enjoyed the lights and stopped by Barnes and Noble for some new bedtime books before we headed back to the hotel. Truthfully, that was the easiest transition from dinner to bed I think we’ve ever had somewhere. Alexander really seemed to love being able to walk everywhere and once we arrived on Friday- we didn’t get back in the car until we left Sunday. It was a nice and relaxing trip, especially around the holidays.
It’s one of those memories that I will cherish forever with the people I love in a city that means so much to me.
